After years in the commercial sector, David returned to study in his 30’s, re-qualified as a lawyer and has been with OSC since 2005, becoming partner in 2010. He offers a different perspective to his clients having the practical commercial experience and provides alternatives to litigation to save unnecessary costs.
David specialises in practice management, employment, conveyancing, commercial aspects including client acquisition, commercial corporate structures where he can help with business set-ups, mergers, restructures, resource consents, and legal compliance.
David loves the outdoors and outside of work is found out fishing, boating, at the beach and enjoying motorsports.

Ann-Jolena specialises in family law. Her extensive Court experience in the criminal law area as well as family law, allows her to provide strong advocacy in matters involving childcare, Oranga Tamariki, family harm, paternity and guardianship disputes. Ann-Jolena also assists clients with relationship property and separation matters.
She joined OSC in 2020 from the sunny East Coast, Gisborne. Ann-Jolena is relatable to clients while remaining professional and keeping clients well informed throughout the process.
Outside of work Ann-Jolena enjoys playing sports, spending time with her children, friends and family.
John Murray

John joined OSC as a partner in 1980 but has retired as a partner and taking up an ongoing consultancy role instead.
John has over 40 years' legal experience in dealing with all aspects of law. John has a well established and varied client base which has been developed over the years reflecting his involvement in family, iwi, business and community interests.
John has held various positions on trusts, community organisations and companies throughout his career involving major restructuring and/or re-development of land and resources.
John's key areas of practice are: Property law matters and conveyancing, Commercial law transactions, Maori land issues, Estates and planning, Business sales and purchases, Trust and succession planning.
Jodie Foster

Jodie specialises in family law including family harm, care of children, Oranga Tamariki, paternity and guardianship disputes. She also assists clients with relationship property and contracting out agreements. Jodie strives to give her clients the best legal advice and encourages clients to find the best solutions.
Jodie commenced practise in 2011 and joined OSC in August 2022 after having three years off with her family and running a business with her husband.
Outside of work Jodie is kept busy with two young children, spending time with family and friends.
Carolyn Scherger

Carolyn describes herself as OSC's general dogsbody and lightbulb changer but also specialises in estates, trusts, wills and Maori land.
Her earliest claim to fame was taking out first prize in the novelty vegetable growing competition at Otonga Primary School back in 1972.
After deciding accountancy was too difficult she moved into the law and started with OSC in 2000.
Outside of work she hits Rotorua's mountain-biking trails, enjoys gardening, and is a drummer for a local jazz trio and blues band.

Nancye has been working in the local legal industry since 2002, although she worked 18 months for a Christchurch firm in 2010 – post earthquake. Nancye's specialty is property conveyancing, refinancing, some estates, wills and EPA’s. Nancye has a particular interest in Maori land law, in particular helping whanau to build and develop their whenua. She is a current serving Maori Land trustee.
In Nancye's personal time she enjoys spending time with her many whanau and friends, she loves to travel and socialise in general – loving life, creating wonderful memories!

Dawn is OSC's go-to person, specialising in family law and litigation.
She is also sports mad - supporting the Warriors, Chiefs, All Blacks, Silver Ferns, and NZ Breakers.
Dawn is another long-term OSC staffer who started with OSC in 2002.
She loves long, lazy weekends with family – especially her three mokopuna.
Alicia (Ally) Ruthe

Ally assists the Solicitors and Legal Executives within the Firm.
Prior to starting with OSC Law, Ally was working in Mortgaging Finance and Insurance.
Outside of work, Ally is heavily involved with the Rotorua Stockcar Club where she is part of the committee and the family Motorsport Team which includes the stockcar and their eldest daughter racing in the ministock. When Ally isn’t track side she loves spending time with her family, traveling and making memories!
Emma Herbert

Emma is our newest legal executive after recently passing her diploma in Legal Executive Studies. She works closely with John Murray.
Prior to starting with OSC in 2022, Emma worked at a local Doggy Daystay and Boarding Kennels.
When she is not working you can often find Emma outdoors on the farm with her family or with her horse.
